The annual Fish For A Cure (F4AC) Tournament, including the Paul C. Dettor Captain’s Challenge and Shore Party, has raised more than $1.1 million in 2024 to support the Cancer Survivorship Program at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center’s Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute. Over its 18-year history, F4AC has now raised over $6.5 million for this critical healthcare program, benefiting cancer survivors in the community.
2024 F4AC Event Highlights
The 2024 F4AC Tournament saw strong engagement from the community and participants:
-58 Boats and 123 Anglers: All registered boats competed in the Paul C. Dettor Captain’s Challenge, bringing competitive spirit and fundraising dedication.
-084 Sponsors and Community Partners: Sponsors and partners played a crucial role in funding the event’s mission.
-Nearly 2,700 Donations: Contributions ranged from $1 to $25,000, amounting to a record-breaking total of $1.1 million.
Captain’s Challenge Standouts
Two boats broke fundraising records in the Paul C. Dettor Captain’s Challenge:
– Legends League Winner: “Reel Counsel” raised an impressive $228,615.23.
– Open League Winner: “AllTackle” raised $49,274.61.
Both achievements set new records in their respective leagues, showcasing the commitment of F4AC participants to cancer support efforts.
F4AC Tournament Winners
In addition to the fundraising milestones, the F4AC fishing tournament recognized top performances in several categories:
– Catch and Release Stringer:
– 1st Place: PYY Fishing – 95.75
– 2nd Place: Sheehy/Heat Wave – 81.25
– 3rd Place: Susan’s Boys/Fightin Fishin & Lovin Everyday – 81
– Perch: Knot A Chance – 52.5
– Invasive Species: Fishful Thinking II – 28
Several additional awards went to noteworthy participants:
– Rookie of the Year: Carrollton’s Catchers
– *Reel Deal” Award: PYY Fishing
